Capabilities

Six disciplines, one accredited contractor.

Repair, replacement and installation of private supply pipes

The supply pipe runs from the point where it crosses the public–private boundary into the building — and it is the responsibility of the property it supplies, not the water company. We repair, replace and install supply pipes for homeowners, landlords and commercial sites across London, the South East and the East of England, using trenchless moling wherever the ground conditions allow so driveways, gardens and forecourts stay intact.

Scope

  • Leak location and excavation-free diagnosis before any ground is broken
  • Localised repairs where the pipe run is otherwise sound
  • Full replacement in modern blue MDPE to current water regulations
  • Trenchless impact moling to avoid open-cut across driveways and lawns
  • Lead supply pipes renewed, with the old run disconnected and capped off
  • Reinstatement of tarmac, block paving, paths and landscaping

Typically bought byHomeowners · Landlords · Property managers · Commercial sites

Mains installation, repair, replacement and new connections

We install, repair and replace water mains for developers, contractors and utilities — from a single new service connection through to distribution mains serving a whole site. Work is delivered to water industry standards by an LRQA WIRS accredited team, with pressure testing, chlorination and certification handled as part of the package.

Scope

  • New water main installation across development and infrastructure sites
  • Burst main response, repair and reinstatement
  • Replacement of ageing, undersized or failing distribution mains
  • Mains and service connections, accredited up to and above 355mm
  • Under-pressure drilling and live main tapping
  • Pressure testing, chlorination, sampling and certification

Typically bought byDevelopers · Main contractors · Utilities · Local authorities

Finding the problem before anyone starts digging

Most of the cost of a leak is in the excavation, not the repair. We use acoustic detection — including the non-invasive PipeMic system — pipe tracing and utility surveying to pinpoint a defect precisely, so the dig is a metre wide instead of a driveway wide. The same diagnostics resolve unexplained consumption on commercial meters.

Scope

  • Non-invasive acoustic leak detection using PipeMic
  • High consumption and unexplained water bill investigations
  • Underground utility surveying and pipe tracing before excavation
  • Pressure and flow diagnostics to identify weak points and bottlenecks
  • Repair on location once the defect is confirmed
  • 24/7 response to bursts and major leakage

Accredited Self-Lay Provider for developer-led water networks

Self-lay puts the programme back in the developer’s hands. As an accredited Self-Lay Provider we manage the scheme from feasibility and network design through installation, commissioning and adoption, coordinating the design and approvals with the adopting water company or NAV operator and handing over an asset that is certified and ready to adopt — on your build programme rather than theirs.

Scope

  • Full application support and management — self-lay and new connections, with NAV engagement coordinated with the selected operator
  • Feasibility studies, with the adoptable network design coordinated through to approval
  • Self-lay installation of mains and service connections
  • Liaison with incumbent water companies through to adoption
  • Regulatory compliance, quality assurance and as-built records
  • Ongoing support and maintenance after handover

Typically bought byDevelopers · Housebuilders · Main contractors · NAV operators

Underground ducting and coordinated multi-utility routes

One trench, several services, one programme. We design and install underground ducting for water and allied utilities — including UKPN cable ducting — and coordinate multi-utility routes and road crossings so a site is not opened up three times for three contractors.

Scope

  • Design and installation of underground utility ducting
  • UKPN cable ducting integration
  • Coordinated multi-utility trenching and shared routes
  • Road crossings and highway works
  • Duct proving, reinstatement and as-built recording

Typically bought byMain contractors · Developers · Utilities · Groundworks contractors

Technical and planning support for schemes near water infrastructure

Not every problem is solved with an excavator. Our consultancy arm supports developers and contractors planning work near existing water mains and infrastructure, and provides water neutrality evidence where local planning authorities require it before consent is granted.

Scope

  • Technical advice on building over, near or diverting existing mains
  • Water neutrality assessments for planning applications
  • Demand calculations and supporting evidence for planning conditions
  • Feasibility and constraints advice at the pre-application stage

Typically bought byDevelopers · Consultants · Planning agents · Architects

Sectors we work with

The same network,
six very different conversations.

How we work

Evidence first.
Then the excavator.

The expensive part of water work is the ground, not the pipe. Every stage below exists to make the dig smaller, the programme shorter and the sign-off first-time.

  1. 01

    Enquiry & scoping

Tell us the property or site, the symptom or the scheme, and the timescale. Domestic supply pipe work is usually scoped over the phone; development schemes start with drawings.

    Same working day response

  2. 02

    Survey & diagnostics

We locate and trace what is already underground — acoustically for leaks, with pipe tracing and utility surveying before excavation — so the scope is based on evidence, not assumption.

    PipeMic acoustic detection

  3. 03

    Design & applications

For adoptable and developer work we design the network and prepare the self-lay, NAV or connection application, then manage the water company through it.

    Self-lay & NAV managed

  4. 04

    Installation

Trenchless moling where the ground allows, open-cut where it does not, and coordinated multi-utility routes where a site needs more than water. Plant, operatives and traffic management are ours.

    Trenchless where possible

  5. 05

    Test & certify

Pressure testing, chlorination, sampling and certification, so the asset can be signed off, adopted or handed over without a second visit.

    WIRS accredited sign-off

  6. 06

    Reinstate & hand over

Tarmac, block paving, paths and landscaping put back properly, with as-built records issued. Ongoing maintenance support is available where you want it.

    Full reinstatement

Common questions

Before you enquire.

The eight questions we are asked most often, answered without the sales gloss.

See all FAQs
Do you cover London?

Yes. London is a core operating area for supply pipe repairs, replacement and installation, water pipe installation and new connections, alongside Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and the surrounding counties. If you are unsure whether we reach your postcode, ask — we will tell you straight away.

Will you have to dig up my driveway or garden?

Usually not. We locate leaks acoustically before breaking any ground, and install replacement pipework using trenchless impact moling wherever ground conditions allow, so surfaces stay intact. Where excavation is unavoidable, tarmac, block paving, paths and landscaping are reinstated as part of the works.

Can a supply pipe be repaired instead of replaced?

Often, yes. If the pipe run is otherwise sound and the defect is isolated, a targeted repair is the faster and less disruptive option. Where the pipe is lead, undersized, or failing in more than one place, replacement is the better long-term answer. We survey first and tell you which applies.

Do you respond to emergencies?

Yes. We operate a 24/7 emergency response for burst pipes, major leakage, sudden pressure loss and other urgent supply failures.

Are you accredited to work on adoptable water networks?

Yes. Cascade holds LRQA WIRS accreditation, is a WaterSafe approved contractor and operates under the WIAPS approved plumber scheme, alongside SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe, Acclaim and Achilles UVDB Silver Plus. Under WIRS we are accredited to undertake eligible self-lay and contestable works — including new water service connections — within our accredited scope.

Can you manage the water company application as well as the installation?

Yes. As an accredited Self-Lay Provider we prepare and manage self-lay, NAV and new connection applications, liaise with the incumbent water company through the adoption process, and hand over a certified asset with as-built records.

Why does lead pipe replacement matter?

Lead can leach into drinking water, which is a recognised health risk — particularly for children and during pregnancy. Replacing a lead supply pipe with modern blue MDPE removes that risk from your supply and brings the property in line with current expectations.

How do I get a quotation?

Call, email, or use the online enquiry form with basic details of the property or scheme. Domestic supply pipe work can usually be scoped over the phone; development and commercial schemes start with a look at your drawings.
